We operate a half day tour 45 minutes from Cape Town to see a variety of shark species throughout the year according to the seasons, weather, water temperature and other factors. We operate half day shark tours to either Seal Island area False Bay, or Cape Point as both offer very different opportunities and visibility. Possible shark species can include bronze whalers (copper sharks), Seven gill sharks, Mako Sharks, and Blue sharks. The location for the day will be determined by the best shark activity and sea conditions and will be confirmed with you the day before your trip. The trip is confirmed weather dependent and is not shark species dependent.

    The crew welcomes you to Simon’s Town a mere 45 minutes from Cape Town.Guests will receive a full safety and sighting briefing aboard White Pointer II before departure. Depart for historical Seal Island which is a 25 to 35 minute boat ride based on sea and weather conditions. Should amazing Cape Point be the location for the trip, the boat ride is +- 50 minutes. The total duration at sea is 3- 4 hours depending on the weather conditions and shark activity. Tea and coffee are available at our shark centre in Simon’s Town. We loved the shark cage diving trip! We saw a whale, a million seals, and 17 sharks!! The crew was fantastic and diving was very cool. Highly recommend!

The booking part of the trip was very fast and efficient. We were hopeful for a wonderful trip. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t great but the team decided it was still good enough to take the trip out. The conditions were so rough that even family members who don’t get sea sickness felt ill by the end. Visibility was so low that you could only see the sharks when they came right up in front of the cage. The most concerning part is that the the waters were so choppy that the divers could not follow the instructions required to keep their legs inside the cage (and these were young fit males). Based on their experience, half the people in our group decided not to get in the water at all. We were lucky that nothing terrible happened that day. These conditions were not safe and Apex Shark Expeditions did nothing to explain this to us. The company was not concerned since they already had our payment and our waiver of liability.

What an experience this was. The team were brilliant and were really knowledgeable about the marine life in the bay. We saw around 19 sharks and had a fantastically frightening time. Highly recommend the team at Apex for this experience
